5th sealant; redoing drain holes, filet sealing ribs, Tank attach bracket R wing
- (3 hours)
Category: Fuel System
We started by taking off the drain valves on both tanks since we realized we did not seal them well enough. Mixed 6.6oz of sealant and reinstalled those no problem with a proper seal as well as sealed the shop heads on the aft inboard tank rib assemblies. We filet sealed and encapsulated all the rivets for each of the ribs in the right wing tank and installed the tank attach bracket. We used as much of the remaining sealant as we could on the left tank before we ran out.
Right wing before redo
Lack of sealant clear from the outside
R Tank attach bracket done
R wing tank better but still not sealed well
L wing tank obviously undersealed
L wing tank definitely under sealed
R tank attach bracket
6.6oz sealant
duplicate photo
my area of concern for leakage through the backside
